About NexKit

NexKit is an independently operated web tools project. It covers documents, images, files, and network diagnostics — practical work most people would rather do in a browser than install software for.

The brand site at nexkit.uk is the central entry point. tools.nexkit.uk is the directory of everything NexKit offers, pdf.tools.nexkit.uk runs the document, image, and file tools, network.tools.nexkit.uk runs the network diagnostics, ai.nexkit.uk is the AI Decision Center, with its AI utility tools at ai.nexkit.uk/tools, and blog.nexkit.uk holds the guides. Each lives on its own subdomain so the role of every site stays obvious.

No single product line defines NexKit — documents and network diagnostics sit alongside each other rather than one being the main event. Tool pages should explain whether a workflow runs in the browser, requires temporary server processing, or is not yet available.

NexKit started from a narrow, recurring frustration: too many small, everyday tasks — resizing an image before uploading it somewhere else, checking whether a domain actually resolves, trimming a PDF down to the three pages that matter — required either installing a program for a five-minute job or handing a file to some service with no clear idea what happened to it afterward, how long it was kept, or whether it was ever really deleted. The project's answer is to keep processing on your own device wherever that's technically realistic, and to be explicit on every tool page about the specific cases where it genuinely isn't, rather than blurring the two together behind a single reassuring-sounding label.

New tools are added deliberately rather than in bulk. Before a tool is listed publicly, it needs a working implementation, a clear statement of whether it runs in the browser or needs temporary server processing, and realistic format and size guidance instead of vague promises. Existing tools are expected to keep working before new ones ship — the goal is a small set of things that work reliably, not the largest possible list of things that exist.

NexKit is independently operated rather than run by a large support organization, and that shapes what to expect from it day to day. Email is the primary way to reach the project, and messages are read directly rather than routed through a support queue or ticketing system — response times reflect that scale, and are described in more detail on the Contact page. That same scale is also why the project stays deliberately narrow: documents, images, files, and network diagnostics, built and maintained carefully, rather than an attempt to cover every category of web tool at once with less attention to each one.

Why NexKit

One browser tab instead of five installs

Most of what people come to NexKit for — shrinking a PDF, checking a DNS record, converting an image, merging a few files together — used to mean installing a desktop application, signing up for an account somewhere, or granting a browser extension more access than the job actually needed. NexKit exists because that overhead is usually unnecessary: the same work runs directly in a browser tab, using your own device, and is gone again the moment you close it.

That's also why NexKit isn't packaged as one large application. Document and image work, network diagnostics, and long-form guides are different problems for different audiences with different technical requirements, so each runs on its own focused site under the nexkit.uk umbrella instead of being bolted onto a single do-everything homepage. The site you're reading now is the map between them, not a product in its own right.

NexKit is built and maintained as an independently operated project rather than by a large team, which is why tools are added deliberately, existing tools are expected to keep working before new ones ship, and every product page states plainly whether a workflow runs locally in your browser or needs temporary server help — see How NexKit Works for what that distinction means for your files.

Principles

Built for practical everyday work

The three points below are working constraints, not marketing copy — they're what a change to any NexKit site has to satisfy before it ships.
